1.9% of mobile users across the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain are downloading full music tracks over the air – nearly 4.3 million people. So where are they downloading from? Apple’s iTunes Store takes top spot with 28% of those downloaders (1.2 million people), but the Nokia Music Store is a strong second with 22% (0.9 million). comScore’s Alistair Hill tells us that Nokia has been heavily promoting its store with mobile advertising, and suggests that labels may be neglecting a similar strategy to drive full-track sales. Meanwhile, the Vodafone Music Store accounts for 13% of OTA music downloaders in those five European markets, followed by Orange Music Store (9%) and Jamba (7%).
