Australian music site Whotune is planning to launch a global independent record label, promising a “completely new business model”. Founder Karl George says it hopes to rewrite the rule book for labels: “Combining a social networking site, online radio stations, live jam cam, record label and live performances, we have the opportunity to create something very unique and exciting, that will offer artists both creative and traditional routes to market themselves and drive sales.”
