WMG act Pendulum’s new album Immersion came out yesterday, but you won’t find the full thing available to stream on services like Spotify and we7. Both services have a five-track sampler instead, with the same five full songs from the album. We wondered if this was an early example of WMG putting its foot down over new releases going live on ad-supported music services, but other albums from the label’s stable released yesterday are available in full – Stone Temple Pilots and Disturbed for example – so it seems the decision to only offer a sampler may be down to Pendulum’s management or the band.
