The final two episodes of US TV drama Lost have set BitTorrent alight, with nearly a million people downloading them in the day after its transmission in the States. Most of those downloads came from outside the US, from countries where the episodes haven’t aired yet. This, despite the fact that in a break from broadcasting tradition, the episodes were shown in 59 countries simultaneously or within 48 hours of the US airings. The TV industry is clearly alive to the fact that delays between initial and overseas transmissions fuels piracy, but for a finale as high-profile as Lost, it seems fans still couldn’t wait.
