As reported yesterday, Microsoft is having a major reorganisation of its Entertainment & Devices division, which includes its Zune, Xbox and Windows Phone product lines. President Robbie Bach and CTO J Allard are both leaving the company, and Bach isn’t being directly replaced. Instead, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is expected to take a more direct role piloting the company’s entertainment strategy. While its Xbox 360 console has been a big success, the Zune devices flopped, and Windows Phone has been left in the dust of iPhone and Android. With Zune transitioning to a service rather than a hardware range, and Windows Phone 7 due to launch this year, the company has work to do. Source: TechFlash
