comScore has published its latest research on the popularity of mobile applications, claiming that 69.6 million US mobile users accessed an app on their phones in April – up 28% year-on-year. Social Networking was the fastest growing category, while Weather was the most popular. However, Music is nowhere to be seen in comScore’s breakdown of the most popular app categories in the US, despite the fact that Pandora was earlier this week named as one of the five most popular apps on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry by rival metrics firm Nielsen.
