Analyst firm AccuStream Research has published a report claiming that US listening to online and mobile radio services will grow by 15% this year, to 8.3 billion hours. It also forecasts further growth of 22% in 2011. The report has positive things to say about the outlook for ad-supported online radio in particular, as “inventory sellout rates continue to rise, royalty rates slightly more favorable to smaller operators are reset and mobile platforms achieve greater scale”. It claims that audio and video ad sales accounted for around half of total media spend against internet radio last year.
