According to new figures from Nielsen, Apple’s iPhone is closing in on rival BlackBerry in terms of US ownership, gaining two percentage points to reach a 28% market share compared to BlackBerry’s 35% share. Smartphone ownership as a whole has gone up, with 23% of US respondents saying they own a smartphone compared to 21% in the previous three months. Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform is at 19%% while Google’s Android operating system is at 9%.
