Canadian digital distribution company Yangaroo has completed the first commercial delivery of a broadcast-quality music video to several channels including MTV Networks using its Digital Media Distribution System (DMDS). Touting the technology as an environmentally-friendly way to get music videos from producers and labels direct to TV stations, Yangaroo explains that Hot Hot Heat’s track “21@12” was uploaded into DMDS at a Los Angeles production company office and transferred to a New York-based promotions company before being delivered to music video channels. Yangaroo claims that the traditional process using physical delivery would have taken a week and cost hundreds of dollars, compared to the digital version that took minutes at a fraction of the cost.
