Kathleen (Katie) McMahon has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing at music search and recognition company Soundhound Inc. Previously vice president of business development at Shazam, McMahon also founded Tokyo-based mobile data service company Westport Communications and was in 2002 recognised as the first Western woman to launch a Japanese technology company. Named by Mobile Entertainment as one of the “Top 50 Women” in mobile content, McMahon will provide leadership across product development, marketing and brand strategy at Soundhound – a company providing an iPhone app that can search via lyrics and humming as well as audio.
