Music service Pandora is launching its own ‘iPad advertising platform’, as an alternative to Apple’s iAd service which is due to launch at the beginning of July. It has already signed up Starbucks, Lexus and Budweiser as the initial brands. Pandora is promising to target users by gender, age, location, the type of music they like, and the time of day. It’s also letting advertisers use video, audio and direct response units in their in-app ads.
