This is intriguing. Vodafone Hutchison Australia, the mobile operator, has launched an iPhone app called Fan.Cards. It’s free, and claims to be “a fun new music discovery tool, giving you a way to collect and access all kinds of information on music artists from around the world”. Users collect virtual cards based on artists, which offer a mixture of photos, videos, streaming music and biographical info. There are links to iTunes to buy songs, and the ability to share cards with friends. It would be just another quirky app, but the fact that it’s been developed by an operator is interesting.
