Tom Petty has signed an interesting deal with Tribune Co, the parent company of the Chicago Tribune newspaper. It involves creating a new website offering videos, songs and other content from his new album Mojo, while also selling gig tickets and merchandise around Petty’s current tour. “As MTV has faded and FM radio has become more and more musically limited, there’s no clear promotional vehicle for musical artists of this stature,” says Tribune’s chief innovation officer Lee Abrams. “We think we can offer a new and different way for the greats of the music industry to connect with their fans.” Source: Chicago Tribune
