We wrote recently about Twitter’s plans to make money from letting brands buy a slot in its Trending Topics list. Well, the first to sign up is Disney/Pixar, which has made Toy Story 3 a promoted trend on Twitter today. It’s clearly marked as a promotion, and is the ’11th’ topic in the list of ten trends – so it’s not taking up a slot for a genuinely popular subject. Clicking on the Toy Story 3 link brings up a list of people’s tweets about the film, with a Promoted Tweet from Disney/Pixar at the top of the stream. Source: TechCrunch
