Why is Nokia suffering? Here’s one factor: Apple has announced that it took 600,000 pre-orders for its new iPhone 4 handset on Tuesday alone. “It was the largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated,” says the company, while apologising for the subsequent problems in the pre-order process. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has upped his forecast for all iPhone sales (previous models included) to 9.5 million units in Q2, and another 9.5 million in Q3.
