Israeli mobile operator Pelephone is close to signing up its 100,000th subscriber for its MUSIX all-you-can-eat service, and has just added UMG’s catalogue. The service is run for Pelephone by Helicon, which has been a long-term partner for UMG in the territory. Pelephone’s VP of content and products Guy Bauman estimates that it will pass 150,000 subscribers by the end of this year. “We believe that the introduction of our repertoire in the Full Track format will serve as a trigger to encourage other Israeli players to move ahead with new basic and second-generation services,” says UMGI’s VP of digital for emerging markets Richard Abdalian.
