Music recognition service Shazam is currently doing nearly one million app downloads a week. CEO Andrew Fisher announced the figure last night, at a party to celebrate the company’s tenth anniversary in London. Shazam also scooped the Meffys award for Best Music Service the night before. Much gossip among partygoers last night focused on the company’s likely exit strategy in the future: the general consensus is that it’s ideally placed between Apple, Google and Nokia to potentially spark a bidding war – perhaps when Apple and Google are closer to launching their cloud-based music services.
