US radio broadcaster NPR has launched a free iPhone app called NPR Music, which lets users stream music in genres including Pop/Rock/Folk, Jazz & Blues, World, Classical and Hip Hop/R&B. The app includes interviews, live gigs and pre-release album streams, and supports the new multi-tasking features in Apple’s iOS 4 software, so it can be listened to in the background while running other apps. The music comes from more than 75 public radio stations in the US, while users can search for archived content from more than 5,000 artists.
