The Music Producers Guild has launched a campaign demanding that more metadata be included with MP3 downloads, to ensure producers, engineers, session musicians and artwork directors get credited for their work. The Credit Where Credit’s Due campaign aims to build a database of who did what on existing tracks, and then get the data included in download files. “Credit information needs to be incorporated into the listening experience and made accessible for those that wish to know it, need it, account to it and, most importantly, be inspired by it,” says MPG director Tommy D.
