Sound Around is the latest startup to launch a platform to help music artists create their own iPhone apps. The company is certainly cheaper than the competition: it’s free to set up, and then bands pay $14, $29 or $74 a month depending on how many fans are using their app (up to 1,000, 5,000 and 20,000 respectively). Sound Around is also making a selling point of the fact that it develops the platform in-house, so will be adding new features regularly.
