US retailer 7-Eleven has launched its Slurpee Battle Of The Bands contest, which will see 12 artists play gigs in LA, Chicago, Dallas and New York, with fans watching their performances on Facebook. They’ll vote for their favourites to weed the list down to four semi-finalists, who’ll then shoot their own music videos, which fans will again vote online for. The contest culminates in two bands playing in their hometowns, with the gigs livestreaming on Slurpee’s Facebook page for more voting. If you’re a non-US reader wondering, Slurpee is a slushie-style drink sold at 7-Eleven.
