597.4 million single-track downloads were sold in the US in the first half of this year, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That’s down 0.2% year-on-year, and a worrying sign for an industry still hoping for digital growth to counterbalance the decline in physical sales. That said, digital album downloads grew by 12.7% to 42.2 million units in the first half of this year, and now take a 27.4% share of the US albums market.
