Analytics firm RJMetrics has been analysing data from two of the most popular social location services: Foursquare and Gowalla. It finds that Foursquare has more than 1.9 million users and is adding an average of 12,900 more every day, compared to Gowalla’s 340,000 users and 1,370 daily additions.Foursquare now has a database of 5.6 million venues, and men outnumber women nearby two to one: 64% are male and 33% are female, with 3% not specifying their gender. 55% of Foursquare users have uploaded a photo, and 28% have linked Foursquare with their Facebook account. “Foursquare is clearly the dominant player and their lead is increasing every day,” notes RJMetrics’ Robert Moore.
