Research In Motion is planning to launch its BlackBerry App World in China soon, as well as a consumer internet service. The company is working on partnerships with local websites, including Baidu, Tencent and Alibaba Group, to make BlackBerry-friendly versions of their sites. The Baidu partnership may raise a few eyebrows: last year, RIM was keen to talk up its relationship with the music industry, yet Baidu has been one of that industry’s chief villains in China in recent years.
