Rush have gone live on the App Store with their first official app, targeted at their hardcore fanbase. What’s more, it goes a bit further than the average cookie-cutter artist app. So, there are location features to help fans find restaurants, hotels and transportation around gigs; a Rush Radio channel with more than 30 Rush songs embedded within the app itself (i.e. not streaming); 30 Rush wallpapers formatted for the iPhone, and an interactive game with a bunch of rare audio clips in. And here’s the interesting thing: the band are charging $2.99 for the app, treating it as a premium product rather than a free promotional tool. It will be interesting to see how many fans are happy to stump up.
