Sony Music Entertainment is reportedly planning to launch its own dedicated download store for classical music (and possibly jazz). That’s according to All Things Digital, which suggests Sony is also keen to sign up its fellow majors for the store’s launch this Autumn. The report claims that the store will sell high-quality lossless files, catering for classical audiophiles. Until now, classical music fans looking for downloads have mainly been served by independent sites like ClassicsOnline and Passionato, although classical music is also available through the bigger stores like iTunes.
