US mobile operator Verizon Wireless revealed that its customers downloaded more than 25 million music tracks and videos in the second quarter of this year. The equivalent figure was 29 million in the first quarter, 38 million in the fourth quarter of last year, and back in Q4 2008, it was 50 million – the highest in its history. In other words, since Q4 2008, Verizon’s music and video downloads have halved. That said, Verizon probably isn’t too worried: even without the iPhone, it added 1.4 million new customrs during Q2 this year, and increased its revenues by 3.4% – with data revenues up 23.8% as part of that.
