A new study claiming only 0.3% of files on BitTorrent are definitely legal is making waves, as you’d expect. The study analysed torrents from 23 trackers, and found that 89% were illegally shared, 10.7% were ambiguous but likely to be infringing, and just 0.3% were confirmed legal torrents. This is music, movies, TV shows and adult videos. On music specifically, the researchers found no legal files being shared. Movies dominate the ten most-seeded files, with Lady Gaga’s The Fame Monster the only album to feature.
