UK entertainment retailer HMV has launched hmvdigital, its new digital music store. The site was built by partner 7Digital, and has been in beta testing since March. Key improvements from HMV’s existing digital service are a speed boost, beefed-up search, more content – 10 million tracks – and a Download Manager for users to sync their purchases with iTunes and Windows Media Player.The site will also now let people pre-order digital albums, and buy digital tracks as gifts for other people. HMV is also touting the way it will keep a record of people’s purchases, so they can re-download them if their computer breaks.
