The mobile campaign for the latest Gorillaz album continues apace, with the release of Escape to Plastic Beach for iPhone and iPad. The game is a Pilot Wings / Glyder style action game, with players asked to fly Murdoc around the Plastic Beach island on a ‘Doom Glider’ shooting enemies and avoiding obstacles. Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett provided the visuals, and the game features music from the album as the soundtrack. It was developed by mobile firm Matmi, and follows the launch of a non-game augmented reality app to promote the album.
