UK streaming music service we7 has added a new feature called Autoradio, which plays users’ favourite tracks while they’re searching for new tunes. It’s an opt-in thing that kicks in when no music is playing already. “This is another example of constant innovation at we7 where we want to ensure that our users are never without their favourite tunes,” says CEO Steve Purdham. The new feature will cost we7 more money in licensing costs, so presumably the company sees the benefits outweighing that. The announcement follows the recent news that we7 has teamed up with GMG to provide news bulletins for its users – both features may make the service more sticky, boosting the length of time people spend listening.
