Microsoft COO Kevin Turner has given more details about the company’s plans to launch its Windows Phone 7 smartphone OS. He told a conference of developers that WinPho 7 will launch first in Europe this October, before rolling out in the US in November. That’s a contrast to previous Microsoft consumer launches, which have tended to focus on the US first. Windows Phone 7 will include Microsoft’s Zune platform for music and video – the first time the Zune Marketplace has been available in Europe, including the Zune Pass subscription service.
