eMarketer’s latest report claims that the number of mobile video viewers in the US will grow from 23.9 million this year to 56.7 million in 2014. If it happens, that means by 2014 21.5% of US mobile users will be watching videos on their handsets. eMarketer has also put dollar numbers on this growth, claiming that mobile video revenues will shoot up from $548.3 million this year to $1.34 billion in 2014, through a mixture of subscriptions, pay-per-view downloads and advertising revenues. Music could take a decent chunk of that, given the popularity of music videos on web services like YouTube – also the biggest service in the mobile video world.
