New figures from RAJAR show that radio listening in the UK topped a record 46.8 million adults in the second quarter of this year – 90.6% of the UK population older than 15. That’s up by nearly half a million listeners year-on-year. The figures also show that 24.6% of radio listening in the UK now takes place over digital platforms: 15.8% on DAB radios, 4.1% through digital TVs, and 2.9% over the internet. RAJAR also reveals that 12.5% of adults now claim to have listened to radio via their mobile phone, although that rises to 29.8% for 15-24 year-olds – with 14% of them saying they listen via phone every day.
