Online music community has launched a contest to find ‘The Ultimate Social Artist’, offering what it claims is $25,000 worth of prizes. The contest will be judged through a mixture of number of fans signed up by bands to their TheIndie profiles, number of downloads sold through the site’s store, and ratings from a panel of judges. Among the prizes are a 30-day ad campaign across bigger social networks, a custom-built iPhone app, a one-week featured placement on iTunes, Napster, Amazon and other stores, and a range of consultancy services.
