A new report from comScore claims that Twitter’s website was visited by nearly 93 million visitors worldwide in June 2010 – up 109% from June 2009. And these figures don’t include people who use desktop or mobile applications to access Twitter. But the report also highlights the fact that the biggest growth is coming in emerging markets: Indonesia, Brazil and Venezuela – the latter boosted by president Hugo Chavez joining Twitter in April this year. In Indonesia, 20.8% of all internet users visited Twitter’s website in June, with the equivalent percentages for Brazil and Venezuela being 20.5% and 19%. In the US and UK, Twitter penetration stands at 11.9% and 10.9% respectively, although there’s likely to be more use of apps in those markets.
