ExtensionFM has signed up 25k users, that doesn’t sound like a lot, but the music plug-in is currently only available for Google’s Chrome browser and we think it’s worth tracking. Essentially, the plug-in lets people temporarily store and play music that they come across while surfing music sites and blogs. Founder Dan Kantor says he plans to launch it for other browsers in the coming months, as well as mobile handsets. It’s part of a wave of startups focusing on turning sites into streaming music – see also Shuffler.fm, and Android application Chompin.
