Last night saw the debut of TuneWiki’s Lyric Legend, a rhythm game for iPhone that focuses on words as much as music. It’s free to download with three songs preloaded from All American Rejects, Metric and Vampire Weekend, with more tracks available in two-song $0.99 bundles from an in-game store. Players tap on word bubbles in time to songs. TuneWiki made its name as a personalised radio service delivering lyrics in time to music, so its new game capitalises on its relationships with publishers as well as labels – while offering a more obvious way to make money.
