If you read only the technology press, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the smartphone world is all about iPhone versus Android. However, new market share figures from comScore show the more complex truth. In terms of smartphones in use (as opposed to new sales), BlackBerry still has a 39.3% market share in the US, ahead of iPhone (23.8%) and Android (17%). In Europe, Symbian remains top dog, although it’s being overhauled by iPhone in both the UK and France. However, the pie charts for Germany, Italy and Spain show why – despite the excitement around iOS and Android – music services looking to reach as wide an audience as possible can’t ignore Symbian.Source: Mobile Entertainment
