Potential contestants for the new series of American Idol are being invited to submit audition videos via MySpace. They’re asked to post videos no longer than 40 seconds, choosing from an approved list of songs to sing. No Ace of Spades, then. The videos will then be made available for fans to watch too, providing Fox and MySpace with a big bucket of good, bad and ugly performances to create a viral buzz for the show. It follows MySpace’s online casting call for Fox’s Glee show earlier this year.
