According to a report on French site PCINpact, the first batch of IP addresses of suspected filesharers has been submitted to French ISPs, under the new anti-piracy legislation. The ISPs will have to hand over the identities of those account holders within a week, putting them into the Hadopi process. Anti-piracy firm Trident Media Guard is working with the creative industries to monitor and report filesharers, and the numbers involved are startling. According to the report, copyright holders are starting “slowly” with 10,000 IP addresses a day, with plans to boost this to 150,000 IP addresses a day within weeks. Really? That’s potentially an astonishing amount of admin.
