Geomium is similar to other location based social networks, but sells its emphasis on meeting new people and throwing in venue data such as bars and restaurants as well as local deals and events, in realtime. It does this by aggregating data from Yelp, Qype and Eventful. Its sell is to provide desirable content and reasons to check-in to venues. It has launched officially in London, and will add UK cities and gradually roll out over Europe and into the US. It’s entering a crowded market, considering that Foursquare and Facebook places are competitors, amongst others.
