A report from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) claims that by the end of this year, more than two billion people will be connected to the internet. That’s around 30% of the global population. The ITU estimates that 226 million new internet users will get online this year, with 162 million of those coming from developing countries. However, there’s still a long way to go in these markets: the ITU says that by the end of this year, 71% of the population in developed countries will be online, but just 21% in developing markets.
