Last.fm axed some of its default radio stations last week, but now it has something new to partially replace them. Mix Radio is, as the name implies, a mixture of music. “Some are brand new recommended tracks; others are tracks that you haven’t scrobbled before, but by artists that you know already; and the rest are simply tracks that you know already,” explains the company in a blog post. “We think that the combination makes a really enjoyable new way to explore Last.fm’s recommendations, based as ever on your scrobbles, tags, loves and so on, in the context of more familiar music.” It’s an interesting point: the idea that a single mode of making recommendations for a personalised radio channel may be too limited.
