New figures released by UK radio industry body Rajar claim that 2.2 million people have downloaded a smartphone radio app – up from 1.4 million in June. Of those app owners, nearly half use them at least once a week. However, 53% of mobile radio listening still comes from built-in FM antennas rather than apps. Some non-mobile stats from Rajar: 16.3 million Brits listen to radio on the internet, 12.7 million use ‘Listen Again’ to catch up with shows, and 8.1 million have downloaded a podcast.
