Twitter raises $200m at a valuation of $3.7bn

Is Twitter worth $3.7 billion? That’s what investors think. The company has taken a new round of financing with Kleiner Perkins as the lead, for a rumoured $200 million injection. As part of the round, two new board members have joined the company. Assuming the numbers are correct – Twitter hasn’t confirmed them – it would bring Twitter’s total financing since it was founded three years ago to $360 million. Twitter CEO Dick Costello did announce that the new funding round had happened, and provided some stats on the company’s growth. “In the past 12 months, Twitter users sent an astonishing 25 billion Tweets and we added more than 100 million new registered accounts,” he writes. “In that time, our team has grown from 130 people to more than 350 today.”Read more:
