Nearly 16.6 million people downloaded Avatar illegally this year, according to research conducted by TorrentFreak. The site points out that it’s also the most-downloaded Blu-ray film ever, having been downloaded more than 200,000 times in four days earlier this year – again, illegally. TorrentFreak has published a Top 10 chart of movies ranked by BitTorrent downloads: Avatar is followed by Kick-Ass, Inception, Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Green Zone, Sherlock Holmes, The Hurt Locker and Salt.
