Given that there’s less than a couple of weeks left in 2010, this shouldn’t come as a shock. Spotify tells the Telegraph that “We’re definitely on our way to the US but we can’t commit to a specific date”. The streaming music service had hoped to launch there this year, but negotiations with rightsholders remain unfulfilled. Setting the target of this year was bound to lead to stories like this if the launch didn’t happen, but the company remains confident it will be able to launch Stateside at some point, with some element of free ad-supported music involved.
