Yesterday saw the debut of Apple’s Mac App Store – its attempt to take the successful iPhone App Store model to its computing products. The store launched with more than 1,000 free and paid apps, and a similar mix of promotions, charts and user ratings as the iPhone version. According to apps analytics firm Distimo, music apps account for a little over 5% of the Mac App Store catalogue.
