Spotify is making progress in its efforts to launch in the US, according to a report in the New York Post. It claims the streaming music startup is “days” away from inking a deal with Sony Music Entertainment, having already gained the backing of another major label – the article doesn’t say who. “Spotify is launching in the US, for sure,” says the paper’s source. “They’ve got the deals now.” In the past, there has been speculation that Spotify is prepared to launch in the US with three out of four majors on board. For now, the company is merely saying that “Negotiations are progressing well, but nothing to confirm at this stage.”
